1. Our Home.
Our first piece of real estate has come full circle. We bought our little unit at East Brisbane near the Gabba in April 2009, and have sold it in September 2013. This unit is something we always envisioned keeping forever, we thought of it as an investment when we bought it rather than a home. However after weighing up all the options, we were destined to sell it anyway to get a deposit to buy a house. And if we were going to sell it anyway, the question changed from being 'sell or not' to 'now or later'. The cost of being negatively geared until we are ready to buy a house, compared against how much it is likely to rise in value in that time, less the interest earned on the sale proceeds in a high interest a/c or term deposit, less the piece of mind of having an emergency fund while we are homeless, less the sheer joy of being mortgageless and totally free while we roll commitmentless from whiskey distillery to distillery to loch to hostel... well...everyone know's I'm total balls at maths, but it just seemed obvious what to do. We are determined to make a proper effort at making our overseas experience worth while, so anything that holds us back kinda needs to go.
So after being listed for sale on a Thursday night, the first open home was held that Saturday night, and we had our offer on Sunday, then signed a contract on Tuesday. It all happened so fast it's a bit hard to believe its not ours anymore! (also thank you to the bogan who left the moldy old couch out the front for the photos... I'm confused by the person who stole just the cushions).
2. Momo.
Our most beloved possession. We never deserved him. What a special boy. Here he is, in all his glory after a sack, back & crack wax at Hoppies.
