So I recently did Slideways (think indoor Go Karts on a slick track so you can drift a little) and I noticed the following differences between this this Go Karting and my Tokyo Go Karting experience:
Slideways:
$60 for 2x 10 min races - indoor track
Safety briefing
Motorbike Helmet
Seat belt
No baggy clothes
No hoods
No scarves
Closed in shoes required
Supervision during the race by a team of guys
Kill switch to stop everyone
Tokyo Drift
$80 for two hours - on the street
No safety briefing
No helmet
No seat belt
Oversized onesie with hood and tail a requirement
Nil other clothing/shoe requirements (bikini with a scarf & barefoot ok)
One guy watching you in his rear view mirrors (at least they can call the ambo if they see you go under someone's wheel)
Nil anything else.
I just thought it was interesting. Not that I regret Tokyo in the slightest. And it's also worth noting that I haven't read of any deaths in Japan by onsie'd tourists, however there are quite a few gory deaths associated with indoor and supervised outdoor tracks around the world. Including Australia. Just Google Indoor Go-Karting accidents…horrific.
